Born and raised in Vermont, Karen fell in love with cooking at the ripe old age of six. Starting by making brownies for her brother in elementary school, cooking became a passion by high school where she was cooking dinner for her entire family a few nights a week.  Forgoing culinary school for a full basketball scholarship to the University of Massachusetts, Karen obtained a BS in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration, where she was able to take several food service and production classes to fulfill her major and maintain her passion.

After college Karen went on to hold several positions in Front Office Management and Sales and Catering in Florida and Wisconsin but after becoming a mom and returning to Vermont the hotel business hours became too much and she decided to focus on raising her children (all while maintaining a side hustle as a caterer and personal chef).

After her kids were in school full time Karen was asked to be the Director of the local Senior Meal Site, which she would continued to run for 9 years, meeting and becoming close friends with many of her town’s senior citizens.  Karen then spent 8 year as local school’s Food Service Director. She loved the job but also fell in love with the kids - serving them healthy meals - many things that they had never tried (“one bite to be polite” often coerced them into loving new dishes!). Now Karen is a full time caterer and entrepreneur. She is currently involved with preparing weekly meals for the Vermont Everyone Eats program as well as preparing a weekly Wednesday entree for pick up - geared toward busy moms and dads as well as people who just want to take a night off and have someone else cook for them!
